Reunion plans

August 2021
Dear Friends,

Out of an abundance of caution - again -  your Board has decided to cancel the October reunion, which was to have been held at the Roxbury Latin School in West Roxbury, Massachusetts. The situation with new variants of COVID-19, and the connection that still seems to exist between singing and infection rates, leads us to conclude that it is better to be safe, rather than sorry, although we decided this with considerable reluctance. Those who have already paid the Reunion fee will receive refunds within the next week.

We plan to put our energies into the Reunion to be held next June, from June 16 through the 18th, 2022 (leaving the 19th for a travel day). This event will include a chance to remember Bruce, as well as a performance on Saturday evening at the St. Cecilia's church after the mass (this detail is still being worked on). I commend to you the website of the Chula Vista Resort (https://chulavistaresort.com), where we plan to stay, as well as several websites that you can search to learn more about the Wisconsin Dells.

Please begin your planning now - of course, we do not know what the world will look like in ten months, but it would be great to gather, to sing some old favorites and a few new pieces, and to start to shape the Mastersingers of the future. To that end, if you know of qualified singers who are young and eager to find a singing home, please refer them to Kerry.

Kerry Brennan and Dave Schepp have already worked on much of the music we will sing, and Dave has begun posting links and recordings to assist with your pre-Reunion practice. I encourage you to meet with some local (broadly understood) Mastersingers friends for pre-Reunion rehearsals, so that we arrive in the Dells ready to sharpen pieces that we have all worked on before that weekend.

In the near future, we'll send out the links to the rehearsal aids mentioned above and updates on other news we believe will be of interest to the Mastersingers community.

Please let me know if you have questions or concerns. As always, I look forward to seeing you, and to singing with you, as soon as we can!

All best,

Tom Sullivan, on behalf of the Mastersingers Board
